A Nicosia-based employers' organisation is looking for a law graduate to join a small team of legal professionals working to assist multinationals stay legally compliant in the employment law, and related, fields.
The candidate should have a good law degree from either the University of Cyprus, or a top 500 University elsewhere in Europe or the Far East. A post-graduate professional qualification would be an advantage, but is not essential - as the successful candidate will be placed onto a fast-track course leading to an Advanced Diploma in Multijurisdictional Employment Law (Adv.Dip MELL) and, if successful, entitled to use the professional designation "HR Counsel".
It would also be an advantage if an applicant had some first-hand experience of working in an HR department or other corporate environment, particularly outside Cyprus.
It is essential that candidates are exceptionally fluent in spoken and written English and have a good level of competence in one of the following languages - French, German, Italian, Korean, Japanese. Portuguese or Spanish.
The job duties include:
* Undertaking ad hoc research into statutory requirements and case law in over 100 countries worldwide.
* Monitoring legal developments in the non-English speaking countries where the jobholder has linguistic skills (other than Greece/Cyprus)
* Assisting with the updating of the organisation's "knowledgebase" of country laws.
* Contributing to projects undertaken for specific multinational clients - particularly in M&A and relocation.
* Assisting in the answering of Client enquiries about specific points of law.
* Provide other professional assistance to colleagues, as required.
Remuneration will depend on qualifications and experience and be competitive within the Cyprus labour market. In addition to statutory benefits, we offer such things as a 13th month bonus payment, company pension (after six months service) and an extra day's personal holiday on an employee's birthday.
Interviews will be held early in 2020 and include a number of general knowledge, intelligence and English comprehension tests. We shall also require two written references.
